Board With Games

I’ve always enjoyed board games, even though I don’t really have the time or patience to set them up and play them these days. Video games are great and apps are practical to take with you, but you can’t beat that ‘new game smell’ when you strip off the plastic wrap and open a boxed board game.

When I was younger I liked a lot of the traditional favourites but I soon tired of Monopoly and Scrabble. Guess Who was a bit too simple and Mouse Trap never worked, even when you built it properly. Risk was a great concept but took too long to play.

When I tried Hero Quest and Space Crusade I got my taste for more meaty table top gaming. Although I’ve never been a heavy AD&D player or anything like that, the strategy element and the story telling were what really caught my imagination. Oh, and all those detailed little pieces!
