I’ve never considered myself to be a dedicated follower of fashion. The last time I went shopping for clothes a guy working in the store stumped me by asking me “What’s your look?” I didn’t really have an answer ready for him but he specifically wanted to know if I was going for a 20s look or a 40s look. I may subscribe to The Chap magazine and own a tweed jacket but I didn’t realise that my own inner chap-ness was so outwardly visible. I shave with a badger brush and soap in a dish, which is kind of retro. Well, whatever my look is, it’s only come about accidentally on a subconscious level. I guess that’s what salesmen in clothes shops are trained to spot.
